What Happens to Stickers When You Replace Your Windshield?

If you're getting your windshield replaced, you might be wondering:
"What happens to all my stickers?"

From registration and inspection stickers to toll tags, parking permits, or even that sentimental decal your kid gave you, those little extras on your glass matter more than you might think.

At Optic-Kleer Northwest DFW, we hear this question all the time from drivers in Roanoke, Northlake, Trophy Club, and surrounding areas. Here's what you need to know before your auto glass gets swapped out.

Can Stickers Be Saved?

Some, yes. Others, not always.
When we remove your old windshield, our technicians carefully evaluate each sticker to see if it can be safely transferred. Some modern stickers are designed to peel and restick, but many, especially state inspection or registration decals, aren’t.
Whenever possible, we use special tools to carefully remove transferable stickers and reapply them to your new glass. However, for items like state-mandated tags, we usually recommend visiting your local DMV or registration office to request a replacement, just to be safe and legal.

What About Toll Tags?

Great news: Most toll tags in Texas (like TxTag or NTTA) are mounted with Velcro or placed on the inside of the windshield with reusable adhesive. These are usually easy to transfer or re-stick. If yours is older or seems worn, we’ll help remove it safely, and you can always order a replacement tag online just in case.
